We all love delicious desserts at weddings! It’s not only the perfect solution to a sweet tooth but it’s also a great opportunity for a couple to show off their personality and what makes them unique. From butter cream to fondant to cupcakes, the Sand Springs Pastry Chef can do it all! I’ll be giving you some great ideas for designs, flavors and icings to make your wedding day truly one of a kind…
Choosing your Flavors & Fillings
We offer so many different flavors and fillings at Sand Springs! The best part is…you don’t have to choose only one! If you’re doing a tiered wedding cake, you can choose a different flavor or filling for each tier. No more just plain vanilla and chocolate..you have an assortment at Sand Springs!
Cake Flavors Include:
Vanilla, Chocolate, Marble, White, Red Velvet, Champagne, Strawberry, Strawberry Swirl, Pistachio Marble, Confetti, Chocolate Chip, Lemon, Carrot or Banana
Cherry, Raspberry, Pineapple, Bavarian Cream, Strawberry, Chocolate Ganache, Lemon Creame, Peanut Butter or Cannoli
Butter Cream Wedding Cakes
Butter Cream Cakes are a personal favorite of mine! Our pastry chef makes his own homemade butter cream frosting and it’s the perfect combination of light and sweet. Butter Cream wedding cakes are a great choice in terms of design and flavor overall. Butter Cream icing is typically smooth, creamy and holds overall frosting designs very well (unlike whipped cream or cream cheese icing). From texture to scrollwork to flowers, butter cream is definitely the perfect wedding cake option if you want a deliciously beautiful cake!
Fondant Wedding Cakes
If you want a super intricate and clean and crisp looking design for your wedding cake, then fondant is perfect! Fondant icing is described as a very sweet dough-like icing. It’s best for achieving a super clean look on your wedding cake and can also be sculpted into many different designs such as flowers, bows, ribbons, and many other designs. Fondant is typically a little bit more expensive than butter cream, but it’s completely worth it if you want your cake to be intricate and something your guests will always remember!
Cupcakes are always a fun and interactive dessert for your wedding guests! We include a beautiful cupcake stand as well to display all your cupcakes too! Usually, when a couple decides to go with cupcakes instead of a tiered cake design, they will opt for a smaller cake to cut into for the cake cutting ceremony. The Sand Springs Pastry Chef will also include a complimentary anniversary tier that’s already packed up and ready for you to take home at the end of your wedding night.
Fake Wedding Cakes
You heard me right…fake wedding cakes are all the craze right now with weddings. A lot of my couples tend to ask me, “Why a fake cake?” Most of the time (not all the time) doing a fake tiered cake to display to your guests is more cost efficient for the couple in general. Usually with a fake cake, there are yummy sheet cakes in the back of the house ready to be cut and served to your guests. In order for fake cakes to be more cost efficient though, it all depends on the design and number of tiers (we’ve done as high as 7!). Another popular question is, “If the cake is fake, what do we cut in front of our guests?” If the cake is not too high, then typically the top tier will be the only real portion of the cake. However, when you get into 5-7 tier cakes, you may want to opt for a smaller cake on the side to cut in front of your guests.

This is a great opportunity to personalize your wedding day and make your day stand out. Here are some awesome photos from wedding cakes all created by our Sand Springs Pastry Chef.
